About DFAC

In the Fall of 2006, the faculty and parents of Dance Designs set out with a mission: to channel our dance energy to help fight the battle against breast and ovarian cancers. Inspired by family, friends, and members of our own Dance Designs community, DFAC was created as an annual event to raise the awareness and money vital to finding a cure for both of these diseases. Dancing For A Cure is a December holiday performance of inspirational dance, song, speakers, and more. Many other fund raising events are held throughout the year. All proceeds raised by this event are donated to a fund we have established with the Friends of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Our first two years featured performances in the intimate setting of our studio…and we raised over $12,000. In 2009 we took a leap, or should we say, grande jete’, and moved to the Knight Auditorium at Barnstable High School. Two sold out shows later, our combined fundraising efforts of ticket sales, gift basket raffles, bake sales, t-shirt sales, and donations equaled an astounding $17,000. This puts our grand total of funds donated to the Friends of Dana Farber at almost $30,000!!! A big thank you goes out to all of you who supported this event!

2009 marks our 4th annual DFAC and promises to be bigger and better than ever! Between Nutcracker selections, inspirational dances, surprise musical guests, new speakers, and everyone’s favorite…the adult tap number…this is a holiday tradition not to be missed!

As a popular song goes, “… when you get the choice to sit it out or dance…I hope you dance”.
We Dance for a Cure.
We dance… so that those facing these diseases will continue their dance.
